Abstract. The recording of archaeology in real-time, from the field itself, has become common practice for many archaeologists. Still, replacing paper with touch screens continues to raise doubts and cause controversies within the discipline. In this brief report, we want to share an experience recording in the field using digital photogrammetric mapping in GIS. This project was carried out in the Lake Titicaca Basin, a highland region in southern Peru, where we demonstrated that this method of recording data can not only bring faster, but more accurate measurements than older methods.
